Characteristics of Turkish Societal Culture

Hofstede’s study of the cultural profiles of a number of countries around the world found Turkey to be relatively collectivistic, hierarchical and uncertainty avoiding; however, subsequent studies indicated that the socio-cultural environment in Turkey has been changing toward being less extreme with respect to each of the aforementioned cultural dimensions and learning to balance a wide range of Western values and practices with fundamental Muslim values.  This report provides a brief introduction to key characteristics of Turkish societal culture.
